Fertility Food Friday: Hot Cacao “Coffee”

Hot Cacao “Coffee”

By Krista A. Parr, R.H.N

While it isn’t necessary to completely cut out coffee while trying to conceive, it is generally recommended that women limit themselves to a cup a day. Many women choose to ‘quit’ coffee while preparing for pregnancy for a variety of reasons, including: the stress that coffee can place on the liver, adrenal glands, blood pressure, and nutrient absorption. For those who are weaning off coffee, this rich, satisfying, chocolatey hot drink provides a bit of a kick without nearly as much caffeine. As an added bonus, high quality raw cacao is considered a ‘superfood’ because of its extremely high antioxidant content. This means it’s very good at protecting cells and tissues from free radical damage. Just remember that raw cacao powder is not the same as cocoa powder, which is highly processed and devoid of any nutrients. The cinnamon in this recipe helps to regulate blood sugar levels, so even if you don’t intend to give up your morning cuppa joe, try adding a dash of good quality cinnamon to your regular coffee.

Yes, this recipe is as delicious as the title suggests. . . . And just as simple to prepare as well! With only two minutes of preparation and twenty minutes of cooking, this is a dream dessert for any level of kitchen expertise!

I first had this decadent treat at my friend Andrea’s house. I grabbed her recipe, did some research and then some experimentation, and came up with this fabulous, fool-proof, recipe. Thank you for this amazing idea Andrea!

The Huffington Post – Mitochondrial DNA 101: What You Need to Know

Dr Sonya Kasyap of Genesis Fertility shares insight into recent developments with mitochondrial DNA

In a historic vote on February 3, 2015, the UK became the first country to allow a new, modified IVF technique called mitochondrial DNA transfer, which uses DNA from three people–two women and one man–to create a baby.

Our very own Dr Kashyap breaks down the medical terminology surrounding this new process and explains what it  may mean for the future of Artificial Reproductive Technology here.

Meet Us Monday: Rachel Li

Hello everyone,

The Chinese New Year is coming, and I wish you a Happy New Year and good health on behalf of the Genesis team.

I have noticed an increasing number of Chinese couples have visited our centre. During the interactions with them, I have deeply felt that the language barriers make their fertility journey even more difficult. I, as an accountant, do not have any medical background; however, I have gained more knowledge on fertility after being an interpreter for a few of these couples. I am so proud that we get to help people’s dream come true. It is a privilege to be a part of the Genesis team, who assist people in building families.

At Genesis we are committed to providing you with latest technology and independently verified success rates while at the same time creating an environment that is caring and sensitive. We aim to provide you with an experience this is incomparable and respects cultural values to make it as smooth a process as possible. We are grateful for all of the support from you.

Thank you.

Happy Chinese New Year from Genesis Fertility Centre in Vancouver

Meet Us Monday: Helen Ortojan year in review

Genesis Fertility Centre in Vancouver looks back at their achievements over the past year.

Maligayang bati!

Maraming salamat at mabuhay tayong lahat.

We are proud of the many positive things that have happened at Genesis over the past year, like our successful open houses and egg freezing event. As well as the birth of the first EEVA baby in Canada achieved through our clinic.

Last October , I had the opportunity to attend the ASRM convention in Hawaii . It was a great experience because I got to learn about new updates and new studies to help patients with their infertility issues.

We here at Genesis are united in our goal to help all of those hoping to complete their family. We are deeply grateful for all of the support from our patients and believe in our abilities to help make their dreams a reality. We look forward to helping you in the year to come. Thank you!
